'IT WAS TIME TO HONOR THE SHOW AND ITS EMPOWERING COSTUME DESIGN AGAIN - THIS TIME FOR THE PUBLIC EYE!'
The
STORY
The
BEGINNING
The first time I shared the idea for this project was about a year before Marina and I decided to make it happen. She and I were sitting down to dinner at a restaurant in Portofino, Italy. Since Marina is the most rational person I know, naturally I wanted her opinion. So fortified with a bottle of fine white wine and delicious Italian food I decided to pitch my idea. By the end of the meal Marina agreed to join me as a partner.
The PROCESS
One-and-a-half years and a lot of effort later we managed to gather quite a number of clothes and props to put on display. Once we felt ready to spread the word we created an Instagram account. Since then, people have gone crazy over this project and we are thankful and appreciative for every person that follows and supports us. We have received a lot of fan mail and positive energy, which feels great.
A lot of HELP
Most credit regarding the costume’s brand goes to the lovely Miss Shanae Brown and her Instagram account, What Fran Wore.
But we are also very fortunate and lucky to have a huge number of Nanny fans around the world who are contributing to this wonderful project. One of our biggest loaner of costumes and huge fan of The Nanny Ms. Nani Fritz, has become an important member of the Shmatte community. With our common effort and determination to find every single piece Fran wore on air we not only have found a companion but also a huge enthusiast to join the exhibit. We are very grateful for that!
IT'S NEVER
JUST FASHION!
BRENDA COOPER
That night we made essential decisions and began to create a basic business plan, along with ideas for how to start gathering the costumes. Soon I began to create a logo, leaflets, and came up with a name. Most importantly, we discussed what the message would be and what the mission would have to accomplish .
